Guess what happens?

Now this piece of software looks like a real killer app for your iPhone or iPod Touch. One key feature is that it’s not limited to operating with a Mac. It’s basically a VNC viewer that runs on your handheld, so it will control the user interface on your Mac, PC, even Windows Media Center, Media Player and iTunes.
Somebody I know has an iPod Touch, and should try this program….

According to this article sales of Blu-Ray standalone players dropped 40% from January to February.
Another article states it may be a seasonal thing, or that the standards war itself has turned users off to next gen movie tech.
I think it may have more to do with the fact that now that there is only one true standard, people know that the price can only go down from here as more manufacturers start building players with cheaper components and higher production volumes. I’m sure most customers remember how DVD players went from $500 to $49.99 Wal-Mart specials in a matter of 24 months (didn’t look up that data, so don’t flame me if it’s wrong).
Who knew such a simple design could be so useful! I’ve gotta try one of these. I’m tired of wrapping my earbud cord around my media player just to have them unravel and tangle up in my pocket.
A poster on the OQO Talk forums appears to have turned his Vist-operating OQO e2 UMPC into something capable of running Leopard.
If this is true and it becomes fully functional, it would be very impressive that something of this size can run a full OS X install. It looks to be a little on the slow side, but could it be iPhone 3.0?
Greenpeace just released the latest results of the “Green-ness” of top-tier electronics manufacturers. Some interesting scores on the grading scale.

Well, Windows is clearly now good for something creative.

Working in tech, I read a lot of articles written by windbags who are paid off by manufacturers or ad firms or whatever. Woz always seems to speak his mind regardless of who it will impact. I’m always drawn to his articles and interviews.
Here’s a recent one:
Steve Wozniak’s frustrations with iPhone, Apple TV and MacBook Air
Wozniak was in Sydney this morning to deliver the keynote speech at a conference focused on Australian broadband. But his commentary during a press Q&A session ranged far beyond the topics of broadband and telecommunications, with Woz lobbing numerous constructive critiques about Apple’s latest products back over the pond to Cupertino.
Coming soon, the start of the 2008 season!

Just ran across this old article and got a good chuckle out of it.
Quotey quote:
“Kmart has decided not to carry Blu-ray players due to their high prices, instead focusing solely on HD DVD this holiday. While it may no longer be the bastion of discount stores it once was, Kmart’s move highlights the problems facing Sony’s format as HD DVD continues to get cheaper.”
Must be a bunch of shirtless dudes….
Finally all the gadget freaks that pre-paid $1500 NINE months ago will have this little gem in their hands. Hope it’s “spill-proof”…
Nice photo gallery in the article.
Engadget’s preview of the Optimus Maximus

This German exibition is showcasing bright infrared LED devices that overwhelm the CCDs in security cameras, allowing you to move through modern society in relative privacy. I used this as a gimmick in my story I, Robot — now I want to own one!
The URA / FILOART developed device promises to the citizens of a more reliable protection against security measures of the state (and other Überwachenden). In addition to monitoring purposes organised systems interaction between man and machine is still IR.ASC an additional interaction between machines dar. This absurd accumulation of technology is symptomatic, because although the entire expense of the protection measures for the alleged safety of citizens is made, the person slips on the importance scale of the current security plan ever deeper down.
